The museum is devoted to the alpine history, traditions and disciplines of mountaineering and offers unique views of the big walls of the Dolomites and the Alps.

The museum was built and designed by Zaha Hadid Architects at the center of South Tyrol, Italy’s most popular ski resort area.

MMM Corones is open 7 days a week, from the first Sunday of June to the second Sunday of October and from the end of November to mid-April.

At the edge of the canyon you can see the Sassi di Matera, ancient cave dwellings that are suspected to be among the first human settlements in Italy, dating back as early as 7000 BC. Situated in the old town, the historical center of Matera was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.

Pictured here is a glorious pug in the comune of Bellagio, located on Italy’s Lake Como. The expression, the juxtaposition with the lady on the left, and the way the sun hits the pug; it’s all just great.

Pictured here is a glorious pug in the comune of Bellagio, located on Italy’s Lake Como. The expression, the juxtaposition with the lady on the left (set slightly back and down some steps) and the way the sun hits the pug; it’s perfect! The photo was taken by Beatnik Prints and submitted last month to reddit. You can read more about Beatnik Prints’ travels on his photo blog.

This Guy Spent the Last 40 Years Building His Own Human-Powered Theme Park

ai pioppi italy human powered theme park (9)

It began on June 15, 1969 with two jugs of wine, a bag of sausages and a grill. Two guys walked by and asked, “what is this?” Bruno replied, “it’s a restaurant”, and Ai Pioppi was born. Located in Battaglia, Italy, the family run restaurant still operates to this day, some 45 years later.

As a way to attract more customers, Bruno began to build rides (by hand) like: swings, slides, seesaws, gyroscopes and roller coasters. A passionate builder, Bruno hoped the rides would attract families and provide a memorable experience for the kids, who would in turn encourage their parents to return.

The result was an incredible human-powered theme park that looks as dangerous as it does fun. In the award-winning 11-minute documentary below, we get a glimpse into this wild and crazy place thtat you have to see to believe.

dino ferrari catches record breaking 280 pound catfish in italy (4)

Fisherman Dino Ferrari caught and released a Wels Catfish weighing 280-pounds (127 kg) and measuring 8 ft 9 in. (2.67 m) in length. The 280-pound behemoth is believed to be the largest catfish ever caught with a rod and reel.

Ferrari caught the fish on 19 February 2015 in the Po Delta, an area of the Po River which is the longest river in Italy. Ferrari told GrindTV the fish went for an artificial bait on the surface and that it took him 40 minutes to reel in.

Ferrari is sponsored by Sportex Italia and you can find many more amazing photos of Dino’s big catches on their Facebook page.
