The Reykjavik Police Department’s Instagram Feed is Pure Gold

 

According to the BBC, Iceland has one of the lowest violent crime rates in the world. Police are unarmed, ‘hard drugs’ usage is low and tensions between economic classes is virtually non-existent. [source]

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland and their Metropolitan Police Department has an official Instagram account that is fun and entertaining. With nearly 300 photos and over 75,000 followers they are surely the most popular Police Department in the world.

Artist Takes Portraits of His Bull Terrier and Illustrates the Background

 

Brazilian artist Rafael Mantesso takes portraits of his adorable bull terrier Jimmy Choo, placing him in funny situations by illustrating the background. Mantesso then posts the funny results on Instagram to his nearly 50,000 followers.

In an interview with Bored Panda, Rafael says the project started after he and his wife got divorced and he found himself with an empty house, white walls and Jimmy Choo. Rafael first draws the background and then attempts to get Jimmy to pose in the specified spot.

This is the World’s Most Well-Travelled Hedgehog

 

This hedgehog has been to more places than I have! Meet Biddy, a 3.5 year-old African pygmy hedgehog who lives in the state of Oregon with his owners Toni DeWeese and Tom Unterseher. Reminiscent of the travelling garden gnome, the couple, who enjoy hiking and exploring the great outdoors, take Biddy with them on their adventures.

After a chance decision to post a picture of Biddy on Instagram, the adorable hedgehog went viral. After launching his own account (@biddythehedgehog), Biddy now boasts a staggering 372,000 followers that just can’t get enough of his globe-trotting ways.

Mother and Daughter Recreate Paper Versions of Dresses Worn by Celebs

Fashion by Mayhem is a collaboration between Angie, a professional photographer, and mother to an adorable 4-year-old nicknamed Mayhem. Together, the two of them love making paper dresses and Mayhem loves to model the final creations.

For the last year the duo have shared the results of their creative collaboration on Instagram (@2sisters_angie) where they have amassed a huge following that now exceeds 100,000 people!

Over the last year Angie and Mayhem have also started to recreate famous dresses worn by celebs at various Awards Shows as well as those seen on popular television programs like Project Runway.

And for those curious about the nickname, mother Angie explains:

“The short version of the long story is that when my sister and I started our (other) blog we decided to use nicknames for our kids (as a small privacy measure). Her daughter already had a fantastic nickname but mine was only 9 months old and didn’t have one yet. One day I looked over and saw my girl had found a pink headband and pulled it on “sweatband style”. She was laughing hysterically and throwing her toys around the room. A few minutes later [this] commercial came on my tv and WOW, I could not have predicted how perfect of a fit the name would be!”

These Two are Winning the Internet in their Sleep

 

Last November, long-time blogger and mother of three, Jessica Shyba, visited an animal shelter with her kids in search of a puppy.

It was there, tucked between two siblings in the backyard of the Santa Cruz SPCA, that they saw him. Although the 7-week-old pup was the shyest of the group, he bounded instantly into her son Beau’s lap as soon as he entered their pen. They took Theo home that day.

After two days of crating—and crying—Theo decided to snuggle next to Beau during one of his afternoon naps and they’ve been napping together ever since. Posting portraits of the two napping on Instagram with the hashtag #theoandbeau was an instant hit and Shyba has seen her Instagram account explode in popularity as she approaches 315,000 followers at the time of this posting.

The surge in popularity has earned Shyba a book deal with Feiwel & Friends for two books featuring the duo. Bedtime for Theo and Beau, the first of the two volumes, is set to be published on February 4, 2015. [Source]

Girlfriend Continues to Lead Photographer Around the World

 

Like so many creative projects, Follow me / #followmeto began rather serendipitously. Photographer Murad Osmann and his partner Nataly Zakharova are passionate travellers but Nataly was growing frustrated with Murad always being preoccupied with his camera wherever they went. She literally resorted to dragging him by hand from place to place to keep them moving.

It was that perspective of Murad being led by Nataly that inspired the ongoing photo series that has exploded in popularity on Instagram, Facebook and Google+.

We first featured the wanderlust couple back in March. Since then the two have continued to visit amazing places around the globe, inspiring travellers and photographers to capture the world around us in a fresh and creative way.
