The tiny lake features a number of fishing huts with bridges connecting to various parts of the lake. On calm and overcast days, the spot is a photographer’s dream. It’s moody, atmospheric and the reflections are breathtaking.

Slovakian photographer Viktor Egyed visited the fishing lake and shared his wonderful photos on Behance. To see the complete gallery in higher resolution, click here.

Picture of the Day: Trolley Goes Back to the Future

trolley goes back to the future budapest hungary

Photograph by VIKTOR VARGA

During the Christmas season, public trolleys in Budapest, Hungary are outfitted with over 30,000 twinkling LED lights. The tradition began in 2009 and has been a hit with passengers ever since. The lit up trams have become a beacon for photo ops and creative photographers have found interesting ways to capture them.

In this eight second long exposure photograph by Viktor Varga, the moving tram looks like it’s moving through space and time. Reports of Doc Brown and Mart McFly at the trolley’s helm have yet to be confirmed 🙂

Picture of the Day: The World’s Tallest Lego Tower

THE WORLD’S TALLEST LEGO TOWER

Students in partnership with LEGO Store Budapest and official Danish LEGO constructors set a new world record on 25 May 2014 by building the world’s highest LEGO tower, eclipsing the previous record set last August by students in Delaware.

The tower was erected in front of Saint Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest, and measured an official 34.76 meters (114 ft) by Guinness World Records adjudicator Anna Orford. The previous record set last year was 34.43 meters (112.95 ft).

The tower took four days to build and used approximately 450,000 LEGO bricks. The tower was topped by an oversized Lego representation of a Rubik’s cube, in honour of Erno Rubik, the toy’s inventor.

Old Photos of Budapest Spliced Into Present Day

Kerényi Zoltán is an architect and photographer from Budapest, Hungary. In an ongoing series entitled, Ablak a múltra / Window to the past, Zoltán splices old photos of Budapest into present day photos of the exact same location, carefully getting the perfect angle and vantage point.

In the 300+ photo album on Flickr, Zoltán explains:

“Everyone experiences that occasional desire to look back at a bygone age, and to catch a glimpse of something that touches their heart and moves their soul, or throws fresh light on the changes around us. Window to the Past captures snapshots of times gone by in such a way that, while being rooted in reality, the images created form something new by merging the power of the past with that of the present. They offer us the chance to remember with eyes wide open. With open eyes and open heart alike.”

Many of the original photos are over 50 years old. You can find the entire album on Flickr and keep up with the latest on Facebook. Zoltán also has books available for purchase on Etsy.
