This Scarf Hides Your Face if Flash Photography is Used

The concept struck designer Saif Siddiqui when he took a photo of friends and a nearby bike’s reflector obscured everyone’s face

Dutch designer Saif Siddiqui has created a fashionable scarf that hides your face when flash photography is used. The concept first struck Saif in 2009 when he took a photo of friends in Amsterdam and a nearby bike’s reflector obscured everyone in the photo.

Six years later, Saif unveiled a line of ‘anti-flash’ wearables under the brand name, Ishu. The self-proclaimed ‘invisibility cloaks’ were first released as scarves, but Ishu has since created a tie, pocket square and phone case that are also anti-flash.

A number of celebrities have been sighted sporting the scarves which has garnered Ishu plenty of attention as the ‘anti-paparazzi’ wear. For more information check out their website.

Artist Benjamin Shine recently completed an amazing installation at the Canberra Centre in Canberra, Australia, creating larger than life portraits using nothing but tulle.

Entitled The Dance, the installation is constructed from over 2,000 metres (6,560 ft) of tulle and each sculpture is created through a process of pleating, layering, compacting and hand-sewing the material into shape. The finished works are then brought to life through back lighting.

Tulle (English pronunciation: /tuːl/ tool) is a lightweight, very fine netting, which is often starched. It can be made of various fibres, including silk, nylon, and rayon. Tulle is most commonly used for veils, gowns (particularly wedding gowns), and ballet tutus. [source]

At the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne’s (ECAL) low-tech factory, two graduate design students have built a whimsical rocking chair that knits you a hat as you rock back and forth.

Swiss designers Damien Ludi and Colin Peillex use a series of gears that are triggered by the rocking chair’s motion to knit the hat.

Low-Tech Factory is a project by ECAL. The university of art and design is based in Renens (in the urban area of Lausanne, Switzerland) and is affiliated to the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland.

Horse in a Tweed Suit Looking Absolutely Dapper (1)

The annual Cheltenham Festival took place this week in Gloucestershire, UK and the popular racing event has become renowned for the tweed outfits many of the spectators wear.

Not to be outdone, veteran racing horse Morestead showed up in a custom three-piece suit made by former Alexander McQueen apprentice, Emma Sandham-King. The dapper suit is a first of its kind and took four weeks and more than 18 m (59 ft) of tweed to make.

Morsetead was accompanied by 20-time champion and former jockey, Sir Anthony McCoy. See below for more photos and video of the dashing Morestead.

Nike Unveils Power Lacing Shoes That Automatically Tighten

When you step in your heel hits a sensor and the system will auto tighten. Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen.

Nike Unveils Power Lacing Shoes That Automatically Tighten (3)

Nike unveiled their 1st Generation power lacing shoe yesterday the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0. “When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” explains Tiffany Beers, Senior Innovator, NIKE, Inc., and the project’s technical lead. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”

Check out the embedded videos below to see the shoes in action.

“Adaptive lacing” as Nike calls the technology, is years in the making. The team first came up with a snowboard boot featuring an external generator. While far from the ideal, it was the first of a series of strides toward their original goal: to embed the technical components into such a small space that the design moves with the body and absorbs the same force the athlete is facing. The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is the company’s first step into adaptive performance. It’s currently manual (i.e., athlete controlled) but it makes feasible the once-fantastic concept of an automated, nearly symbiotic relationship between the foot and shoe.

The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 will be available only to members of Nike+ beginning Holiday 2016 in three colors. To become a Nike+ member and sign up for notifications about the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, go to Nike.com.

Artist Turns Shoes Into Gardens… and Makes a Batman Suit Out of Bark

Just Grow It

Christophe Guinet aka Monsieur Plant uses organic materials like plants, tree bark, seeds, soil, fungus and moss to create garden-like sculptures out of material objects like shoes. Oh and he also made a wearable Batman suit out of bark.

On Picture Day, These Students Passed Around a Pineapple Shirt. It Showed Up 18 Times

Students at a high school in Arkansas decided to have a little fun on picture day, passing around a pineapple shirt and seeing how many times it could appear in photos.

I wonder how long it took the photographer to notice? It’s fun to guess what order they might have gone in by their facial expression. Perhaps the more people who did it the funnier it got and the bigger they smiled 😀
