To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hook, featuring the late Robin Williams, production company 22 Vision reunited the original Lost Boys cast for an unforgettable photo shoot.

In an exclusive with ET, producer and 22 Vision founder Brian Pocrass says it took him two years to get them all together. During filming, the young cast ranged from 6-17 years old and for many, it was their first-ever acting role.

You can see many more photos from the memorable photo shoot on 22 Vision’s Facebook page. You can also learn all about the reunion and the cast’s stories on ET. Astute readers may have noticed that Latch Boy, played by Alex Zuckerman is missing. He unfortunately was not interested in being part of the reunion.

22 Vision has also completed other amazing reunion photo shoots including The Little Rascals and School of Rock. To see more, visit their official website.

In this awesome close-up of a common nighthawk (Chordeiles minor), the bird’s beak bears striking resemblance to another bird. It’s all in the nostrils!

Then and Now: The 1910 Great Flood of Paris vs 2016 Floods

In January of 1910 the water level of the Seine rose a staggering 8 meters (26 ft) above average

In late January of 1910 the water level of the Seine rose a staggering 8 meters (26 ft) above normal. After months of heavy winter rains, the Seine flooded Paris as water pushed upwards from overflowing sewers, drains and subway tunnels. The event would be come to known as the Crue de la Seine de 1910, or the 1910 Great Flood of Paris.

Over the course of a week, thousands were forced to evacuate their homes as police, fire fighters and soldiers waded through the streets in boats to rescue stranded residents and distribute aid. It would take 35 days for the floods to disappear completely and estimates of the flood’s damage reached some 400 million francs, or $1.5 billion in today’s money. [source]

This past week, Paris has once again undergone flooding as the Seine climbed to 6.1 m (20 ft), its highest level since 1982.

To highlight the contrast between the two floods, artist Julien Knez aka Golem13 found the present day locations of 1910 flood photos and carefully matched both. The resulting images are striking because Knez took the time to perfectly match the angle, distance and location of the originals.

Knez has also recently published a book—in the same style with old photos of Paris compared to present day—entitled, Paris – Fenêtres sur l’Histoire. The book is currently available on Amazon and Fnac.

This Then and Now Photo of Omaha Beach, Normandy Gave Me Chills

On D-Day, June 6, 1944, the largest seaborne invasion in history took place on the coast of Normandy, France

omaha-beach-normandy-france-d-day-then-and-now-world-war-II-then

On June 6, 1944 the largest seaborne invasion in history took place on the coast of Normandy, France. The ‘Normandy landings‘ (codenamed Operation Neptune) would come to be known as D-Day, and the operation began the liberation of German-occupied northwestern Europe from Nazi control, contributing to the Allied victory on the Western Front during World War II. [source]

The amphibious landings were preceded by extensive aerial and naval bombardment and an airborne assault—the landing of 24,000 American, British, and Canadian airborne troops shortly after midnight. Allied infantry and armoured divisions began landing on the coast of France at 06:30. The target 50-mile (80 km) stretch of the Normandy coast was divided into five sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword Beach. [source]

In the chilling photo above we see landing ships putting cargo ashore on Omaha Beach during the first day of the operation. Among identifiable ships present are USS LST‑532 (in the center of the view); USS LST‑262 (third LST from right); USS LST‑310 (second LST from right); USS LST‑533 (partially visible at far right); and USS LST‑524. In the photo above taken in 2014, we see the same stretch of Normandy coast 70 years later. The contrast is incredible and is one in a series of 21 interactive ‘then and now’ D-Day photos published by The Atlantic’s In Focus.

According to Atlantic editor Alan Taylor, “Getty photographer Peter Macdiarmid and Reuters photographer Chris Helgren gathered archive pictures from the 1944 invasion, tracked down the locations, and photographed them as they appear today.”

Split Face Portraits of Warcraft Actors and Their CGI Counterpart

What a difference a little CGI makes!

On 10 June 2016 the new Warcraft movie will be released, based on Blizzard’s popular series of video games. The story features a plethora of fantastical heroes, creatures and races which in cinema usually means plenty of CGI to bring the characters to life.

In the series of promotional posters below we get to see who the actors are behind the characters. Observant readers may notice that there are a number of small dots on many of the actors’ faces, this is for motion capture and helps the CGI artists who bring the actors’ facial movements to life.

15 People That Look Like Their Surroundings (And 8 That Look Like Things)

A silly list that will put a smile on your face

There was a recent gallery on reddit of ‘people who accidentally dressed like their surroundings‘ which led me to an entire subreddit called r/thingslikepeople dedicated to the phenomenon and further led me to this post on Imgur, this post on Bored Panda and a slew of other reddit users that had submitted their own look-alikes over the years.

I’ve compiled the best ones into the list below and updated the title to reflect people that look more like nearby objects as opposed to their direct surroundings, enjoy!

Puppy or Bagel? Chihuahua or Muffin? Shiba or Marshmallow? (8 photos)

These are silly and I love them

Is this a puppy or bagel? The question was posed by Karen Zack (@teenybiscuit) on Twitter and was accompanied by a gallery of photos that humorously brought attention to the striking similarities.

The tweet went viral and Karen has since followed up her now Internet famous image with more comparisons between various dog breeds and foods. She has even added a few new animals to the mix like birds and shrews.

The Internet is having a field day with these and her images have garnered her a ton of media attention. For more fun and quirkiness from Karen, check her out at the links below.
